Interpreter’s Report 2003

The referees in this province have shown a very positive and professional image to our clients.  I have received and answered many emails from people that want to be better informed on the rules and mechanics.  Our website has been continuously updated and follows the guidelines of CABO.

The Fiba Exam was a more difficult one this year.  Our results prove this.  As referees we do well on the main core of the rules but must become better aquatinted with finer points of the book.  The NCAA test results were the best so far.  We did our homework.  National evaluators commended our tournament officials in regards to their rule knowledge, mechanics and the calling of advantage/disadvantage situations.

Your president and I are working hard on your behalf to have our province switched to one set of rules, these rules being the NCAA.  We are meeting some resistance with our partners.  I will be enclosing the major differences between the two sets of rules.

In the fall, we hope to present an interesting Level 2 clinic.  Your feedback would be greatly appreciated in regards to the agenda.

Remember when buying refereeing items in the United States the exchange rate and duty can be costly.  Personally, I really like the patented leather shoes.

Interpreter,
