NSBO VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Fall, 2001
Discipline Committee:
The Discipline Committee has received its first referral of the 2001/2002 season involving 2 of our members in the Metro Area. Let’s hope this isn’t an indicator of the season-to-come.
Unprofessional conduct of
NSBO members continues to be a major issue for your Executive. We will overcome this rather persistent
misbehavior! It may become necessary for the Committee to consider stronger
penalties than the minimums prescribed within the Rules and Regulations of
NSBO.
Basketball Nova
Scotia:
BNS and HMBA are apparently planning on changing mini basketball games
from 8 5-minute straight time periods to 8 4-minute stop time periods. The
President, Provincial Supervisor, and myself are researching the effect of this
plan on NSBO members and existing agreements. I personally don’t feel that
there will be much of an impact on the Association but we will keep you posted.
Rules and
Regulations:
I have updated the Rules and Regulations and an up-to-date version is
posted on the website. All of the updates were passed as motions etc. at
meetings of the NSBO. The highlights of these changes are:
1.
References to FIBA Fitness
Test deleted and points for attendance at NSBO GM’s added to AUS ranking
criteria.
2.
Added to Section 2.8 was
NSBO policy pertaining to officials only working games assigned by the Area
Assignor.
3.
Section added creating two
new Association positions (non-executive):
Webmaster
(Paul Hanson)
Professional
Development Coordinator (Pat Nearing)
4.
Other editorial changes
Please make
note of changes that affect your officiating career. I will further update this
document with business transacted at this meeting, advise the Executive, and
post the new version on the Website.
