Provincial Assessor’s Report
September 23, 2007 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
The Summer Camp of Excellent proved to be an excellent opportunity to see some of our up coming young officials along with a vehicle to interact with some of the senior officials who have been around for many years making NSBO such a credible organization. Thank you all of the people who took the time out of there summer to attend this camp. It demonstrates a serious commitment to the game. I would like also to commend Roger Caulfield for his work in organizing this event. The manner in which it was conducted allowed each official to get the opportunity to work a number of quarters and receive immediate feedback by conferencing with an evaluator upon completion of each quarter. The feedback from those in attendance was extremely positive.
As other executive members have indicated our major task this year will be the implementation of FIBA rules and mechanics, the clinic on September 22 should be an excellent way to jump start this initiative. As the Assessor for NSBO I have no concerns about this implementation. Our association has been through this type of process many times and passed with “A” grades. With the vast number of committed officials we have I have confidence things will go smoothly.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for assistance with the clinics in your local areas. Also, we must be vigilant to provide opportunities for our younger officials to receive evaluations and progress to their highest potential levels.
On final note congratulations to the officials who worked summer tournaments. Thanks for you commitment to NSBO.
