Provincial Assessor Report
Spring 2009
The NSSAF High School tournaments ran very smoothly again this year thanks to the outstanding officiating provided by our members. We continue to have dedicated officials who are willing to make time available for these assignments. I would like to thank all officials who took part. Their involvement in this tournament demonstrates not only a commitment to the board but also their desire to be assessed and improve their game. I was extremely exciting to have the Division 1 Championship games officiated with three person crews. This provided excellent officiating for the teams along with a good opportunity for Professional Development for our officials.
The Three Person Clinic held in Truro was a huge success. Most of the officials indentified by our board from across the province were on hand for this clinic. We had a mechanics clinic early on Friday and officials worked games at four different venues both Friday and Saturday. During the clinic each official received a written assessment, created a three year plan and had an opportunity to look at their possible placements for the NSSAF Tournament.
I will be making a motion to have all the identified officials together for a clinic and tournament next season. I will also be requesting permission to have an NSSAF evaluator training session during the same weekend.
I would like to congratulate the following members on the completion of a Level 11 Certification:
Dave McCrae
Laura Sanders
Steve Oliver
Irvine Carvery
Officials completing their first positive evaluation:
Duane Starrett
Amy MacLean
Also congratulations to those officials who have worked national assignments and those working the Canada games this summer.
