Colchester Area Supervisor’s Report

2009-2010

We held 4 Professional Development sessions in November 2009. Three of our meeting concentrated mainly of rules and our final session was held at Truro Junior High working on floor mechanics. I would like to thank Chris Ross for providing the teams and gym for our floor mechanics clinic.

Our local had three new officials this year. Joy Galloway-Jones: (worked championship game in the Div. 4 Girls NSSAF final), Mary Ellen-Gadett and Glen Erskine. At this time we have two new people committed for next season; Gary O’Toole and Andrea MacKenzie. This will bring the Truro Area up to a total of 22 active officials.

This area saw 7 officials work at the NSSAF Tournaments and 1 official (Chris Ross) work at both the ACAA (worked championship game) and AUS Women’s play-off tournaments. Congratulations to Chris for his success this season.

I would like to thank all of the officials in our area for their hard work and professional commitment to improving basketball.

On a sad note I would like to say good bye to one of our long time (35 + years) officials who passed away during the 2010 season. Brian Roberts who has been one of our most loyal members passed away in January shortly after going through open heart surgery. He was not only a very solid referee, but a friend and one of the good guys who made the game better. Brian will be missed by the basketball community.
