Interpreter's Report-MAY 2009

1. A number of successful fiba clinics were held throughout the province in the fall.

2. CABO is in the process of providing our members with a more structured national certification program. Interpreter's will be sent to a national training symposium on certification.

3. NSBO has lost about 15% of its senior members but our recruitment program has been very successful. The leadership and various initiatives by area supervisors must be commended. NSBO would like to acknowledge the leadership and experience that the senior officials have provided . Their quality of officiating will be greatly missed.

4. FIBA mechanics are now the accepted mechanics throughout Canada.

5. NSBO members have increased their knowledge of the rules and there were very few interpretations mistakes made during our various championships.

6. The FIBA grey shirt continues to be upgraded to meet our expectations. Shirts are still available. (contact Paul Hanson 462-7579)

7. A sporting grant was received to help with the education needs of our province. A special thank you to Mark Smith and Paul Hanson for their advisement in the application.

8. New rules and mechanics updates are being posted on our web-site.

9. E-mails and correspondence directed to my office are dealt with quickly.

10. Dates for the Basketball Camp of Excellence are July 17, 18 and 19 in the Valley. The number of participants will be kept to a minimum (contact Roger Caulfield 798-4073 or email: rogerc@staff.ednet.ns.ca).

11. Finally, many thanks to the area supervisors and executive members who give so much time to promote basketball in our province.
