Interpreter’s Report
Spring 2002

Highlights

1)  CABO was pleased to receive the exam data on time.  Problem areas will be discussed during the fall clinic.

2)  Our membership has been pleased with Honig’s service.

3)  NCAA mechanics and signals must be used in the CCAA games.  If there is no corresponding signal, the FIBA signal will be used. e.g. team control signal

4)  Similar mechanics and one set of rules will be the initiative of CABO during the summer months.

5)  The NSBO website has been a tremendous resource to keep up to date with NSBO information as well as rules and interpretations.

6)  Continue to use good judgement when dealing with excitable fans.

7)  Diplomacy not arrogance is the best way to deal with players and coaches.  Don’t allow your verbal communication get you into trouble.

8)  Horns acknowledge substitutes are ready to enter the game.  Don’t use your whistle.

9)  Putting the ball in play – proper place on out of bounds, fouls, and violations.  If the foul is in the offensive end and the ball goes through the basket(with no score to be counted), make sure the ball is put in play foul line extended.  We don’t want the offence shooting after the whistle.  This applies to the FIBA game only.
