Motions for the 2002 Spring GM of NSBO
1.
“That the current meeting rotation of Halifax/Truro/Valley continue
with the Fall 2002 GM to be held in Halifax.”
2.
“That the Fall GM and level 2 clinic be held on the same day.”
3.
That the rules and regulations of NSBO be amended with a section on
conflict of interest.
Specifically, …“NSBO
members shall not be assigned games:
Involving immediate family members,
Involving schools, colleges, or universities of which he/she is an employee, and
In which his/her Area Supervisor believes NSBO’s impartiality could be
questioned.”
4.
That the Rules and Regulations be amended to provide direction to Area
Supervisors on handling of discipline issues within his/her
area.
“Area
Supervisors, after consultation with Area Executive members, are responsible for
determining whether a particular situation is to be referred to the Discipline
Committee of NSBO. In cases of chronic, and relatively minor, misbehavior (i.e.
lateness, missing meetings, harassing assignors etc.) the Area Supervisor must
be willing and able to demonstrate that he/she has utilized some combination of
verbal and/or written corrective action before referral to the Discipline
Committee. Area Supervisors may, after some combination of verbal/written
action, mandate a change in either the number or level of assignments an NSBO
member receives. Such a change in assignments must be made in writing to
the affected member and a copy sent to the Vice-President of NSBO. If the Area
Supervisor feels an official suspension is warranted in any case, the situation must
be referred to the Discipline Committee.”
5.
That NSBO negotiate with the ACAA-NS schools to utilize 3-person crews
for men’s games, beginning with the 2002/2003 season. The suggested rate of
pay is $40/game. It may also be helpful to contact the NB Officials association
to inquire about their plans in this area for next season.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Jonathan Hunt, NSBO VP
