Provincial Assessor’s Report
April 25/04
I would like to begin my report by saying how proud I am to be part of the NSBO. As I compare how other sport organizations do business it certainly gives me great pleasure to see how professional our organization has become. We have, in my opinion, a very knowledgeable executive working hard for the betterment of our association, and a solid core group of officials that do a top-notch job, along with a healthy number of very prospective young officials progressing through our system.
The “Three Person” fall clinic held in Truro for the new AUS officials helped provided a solid start for this crew. Having worked with and watched these officials work a number of times this year: and through my conversations with both Ted Wallace and Gary Balcom it is clear they have all had a successful season at the AUS and CCAA levels.
During the Christmas tournaments in Halifax I was able to see the majority of the AUS officials work. The people we having working these games are solid officials who are doing a competent job.
The March 5/04 weekend may have been our biggest challenge in years. NSBO serviced all 8 NSSAF tournaments, CCAA Men’s & Women’s Play-Offs, AUS Men’s games, AUS Women’s Play-Offs and Bedford tournament. Based on the response I have received to date our organization handled all of the tournaments proficiently.
I would like to thank all the officials who participated in the NSSAF Tournaments. They are to be commended for a job well done.
Congratulations to the officials that worked at the CCAA Play-Offs, AUS Play-Offs and National Tournaments. I appreciate the commitment and professionalism of these elite officials.
In closing I would like to say that our Association has had many challenges this year as we do most years. I would like to commend our President (Jon Hunt) for his strong leadership in dealing with these issues. Also, a very huge thank -you to the executive members for their many hours of hard work and commitment throughout the year.
Motion: “That NSBO adopt the new ranking system as outlined in our agenda.”
