Vice Presidents Report

Fall AGM - 2007

Accountability!!!

There has, perhaps, never been a time in history that accountability has been more important.  Make decisions that you can defend!!  As we officiate each and every game, treat players, coaches and fans with the utmost of respect and demand the same from them.  When things do not go according to plan, and disciplinary actions must be taken within the confines of the rules, respond professionally.

Use the report located on our website to communicate with me the details of the incident - be thorough!!  The more details that you provide to me, the easier it is for me to fairly deal with the situation.

More and more of us are also coaching these days - remember that you wear two hats and that many people are watching you and the relationship that you have with your game officials.  There must not be a perceived ‘conflict of interest’.  As a member of NSBO, it is imperative that you treat your game officials with the respect that they deserve - otherwise, it is perceived that you have some influence with the officials and therefore are gaining a perceived advantage.  Be very cognizant of this perception, because frankly, I believe that you are in a position of ‘conflict of interest’ – you must do it well!! Don’t bring attention to yourself!!

Have a great season - be professional and proudly represent NSBO!!
