Fall AGM/2006


The beginning of another busy basketball season is upon us and I trust that all are ready and eager to give a 100% commitment to each and every game officiated in this province. I urge you to be professional at all times and to be cognizant of your responsibilities to the game and to NSBO. I would like to reiterate points made in the Spring AGM.

In every basketball game played in this province, we as basketball officials bare the burden of responsibility: a responsibility to ensure that games are well managed and played fairly within the confines of the rules. We do our very best in working with coaches and players to achieve this goal. From time to time, incidents occur outside the intent of the rules and must be dealt with.

As Vice-President and chair of the discipline committee, I have created a database of such incidents occurring throughout the province for both NSSAF and BNS games. This information helps to paint a clear picture of any trouble spots in our sport throughout the province – we are able to track the behavior of players and coaches as well as have vital information for when one of our own makes an error and discipline may be required.

Please be diligent in filing these reports on-line at nsbo.net when these incidents occur. Prompt reporting of any unacceptable behavior will allow us to nip the problem in the bud.
